Kilo, mega, giga, tera, and peta are among the list of prefixes that are used to denote the quantity of something, such as, in computing and telecommunications, a byte or a bit. Sometimes called prefix multipliers , these prefixes are also used in electronics and physics. Each multiplier consists of a one-letter abbreviation and the prefix that it stands for. In communications, electronics, and physics, multipliers are defined in powers of 10 from 10-24 to 1024, proceeding in increments of three orders of magnitude (103 or 1, 000). In IT and data storage, multipliers are defined in powers of 2 from 210 to 280, proceeding in increments of ten orders of magnitude (210 or 1, 024). These multipliers are denoted in the following table. Prefix Symbol(s) Power of 10 Power of 2 yocto- 10-24 * zepto- 10-21 * atto- 10-18 * femto- 10-15 * pico- 10-12 * nano- 10-9 * micro- 10-6 * milli- 10-3 * centi- 10-2 * deci- 10-1 * (none) 100 20 deka- 101 * hecto- 102 * kilo- k or K ** 103 210 mega- 106 220 giga- 109 230 tera- 1012 240 peta- 1015 250 exa- 1018 * 260 zetta- 1021 * 270 yotta- 1024 * 280 * Not generally used to express data speed ** k = 103 and K = 210 Examples of quantities or phenomena in which power-of-10 prefix multipliers apply include frequency (including computer clock speeds), physical mass, power, energy, electrical voltage, and electrical current. Power-of-10 multipliers are also used to define binary data speeds. Thus, for example, 1 kbps (one kilobit per second) is equal to 103, or 1, 000, bps (bits per second); 1 Mbps (one megabit per second) is equal to 106, or 1, 000, 000, bps. (The lowercase k is the technically correct symbol for kilo- when it represents 103, although the uppercase K is often used instead.) When binary data is stored in memory or fixed media such as a hard drive, diskette, ZIP disk, tape, or CD-ROM, power-of-2 multipliers are used. Technically, the uppercase K should be used for kilo- when it represents 210. Therefore 1 KB (one kilobyte) is 210, or 1, 024, bytes; 1 MB (one megabyte) is 220, or 1, 048, 576 bytes. The choice of power-of-10 versus power-of-2 prefix multipliers can appear arbitrary. It helps to remember that in common usage, multiples of bits are almost always expressed in powers of 10, while multiples of bytes are almost always expressed in powers of 2. Rarely is data speed expressed in bytes per second, and rarely is data storage or memory expressed in bits. Such usages are considered improper. Confusion is not likely, therefore, provided one adheres strictly to the standard usages of the terms bit and byte.

The goddess Velik takes a special interest in the federation and its heroes. Today, Velik announces a Grand Hunt, to celebrate and reward the greatest of the Valkyon Federation's champions. From March 10 following maintenance until April 5 following maintenance, log in to TERA and collect materials and receptacles to craft incredible rewards! To start you off, Velik has scattered five must-have materials across the world of TERA for you to hunt. Materials Cadmins drop from BAMs on the Island of Dawn and from max-level dungeon bosses. Rochens are earned by reaching leveling milestones, and can be purchased directly with Bellicarium and Vanguard Initiative credits. Stibias are earned by defeating bosses in leveling dungeons. You can also purchase them directly with Killing Spree and Vanguard Initiative credits. Terebins are rare drops from max-level dungeon bosses. Also a guaranteed drop from Kelsaik in Dreadspire challenge 15. Bezoars are rare drops in Dreadspire challenges 16-22, with an escalating drop chance based on the challenge completed. The more difficult the challenge, the higher the drop rate, with a guaranteed drop for completing challenge 22. EDIT: Bezoar is currently not dropping from bosses on floors 16-21 in Dreadspire. While we investigate a solution to this issue, we have added the guaranteed Bezoar drop to "Montori's Haul: 22nd Challenge" box. In addition, we have temporarily added a chance for Bezoar to drop from Kelsaik in Dreadspire challenge 15. Receptacles and Rewards To use these materials and reap your rewards, log in on specific days and claim special divine receptacles from the login rewards calendar. Combine a receptacle with specific materials to create the reward boxes noted below. The receptacles and materials are used up in the process, but you can obtain more throughout the event. Five divine receptacles are easily obtained just for logging in: Velik’s Inspiration—When combined with rochens and stibias, this receptacle produces Velik’s Steed box containing either a 3-day, 7-day, or permanent version of one of the following wolf or tiger mounts: Slash Khan Hobbes Sundarban Baekho Velik’s Favor—When combined with rochens and stibias, this receptacle produces Velik’s Helm box containing either a 3-day, 7-day, or permanent version of one of these previously-unreleased accessories: Crimson Order Helmet Argent Order Helmet Golden Order Helmet Velik’s Solace —When combined with cadmins and terebins, this receptacle produces Velik’s Garment box containing either a 3-day, 7-day, or permanent version of one of the following superior inner armors: Dyeable Empowered Silk Intimates Dyeable Fitness Silk Intimates Dyeable Fortified Silk Intimates Dyeable Insulated Silk Intimates Dyeable Performance Silk Intimates Velik’s Passion—When combined with cadmins, terebins, and bezoars, this receptacle produces Velik’s Enchantment box containing one of six scrolls with a chance to automatically enchant eligible tier 8 (or lower) gear all the way to +12. Each scroll has footwear, handwear, body armor, and weapon versions. Flawed [1% Success Rate] Weak [5% Success Rate] Minor [10% Success Rate] Potent [25% Success Rate] Major [50% Success Rate] Perfect [100% Success Rate] Velik’s Vision—When combined with cadmins, terebins, and bezoars, this receptacle produces Velik’s Awakening box containing one of six scrolls with a chance to automatically enchant and awaken compatible tier 9 gear all the way to +15. Each scroll has footwear, handwear, body armor, and weapon versions. Additionally, two receptacles can be purchased through special exchanges and NPC vendors: Velik’s Gratitude is available from the Dawnfall exchange, and from Killing Spree and Bellicarium vendors. When combined with cadmins, it produces Velik’s Reward box containing one of the following: Masterwork alkahest (×25) Master engimatic scroll (×15) Spellbind (×20) Semi-enigmatic scroll (×5) Tier 9 feedstock (×25)

Since starting development on Fable Legends, we’ve had two clear goals in mind. First and foremost, we’re aiming to create an amazing, fun gaming experience for our players. The feedback we’ve had so far from players in our closed beta, fans we’ve met at shows, and the gaming press indicates we’re well on our way to realising our first goal! Our second goal is to ensure the game we’re working to create is available to as many players as possible. The first step to make that happen came when we announced this year that Fable Legends will be cross-playable on both Xbox One and Windows 10 PC. Today we’re announcing the next huge piece of news that’ll help us reach this goal. Fable Legends will be free to play . So what does free to play mean for Fable Legends? To help explain our approach to free to play, we’ve laid out three clear commitments: Open You’ll be able to play Fable Legends from beginning-to-end without spending a penny. That means you’ll have access to the entirety of Fable Legends’ storyline and all of the quests we release this year and forever. Fair Everything in Fable Legends that affects gameplay can be earned by simply playing the game. Generous Our goal is to have a happy community of players. We’ll be updating the game with exciting new quests to play through, Heroes to play as, Villain creatures to control, and lots more. So how does Fable Legends work as a free to play game? In Fable Legends, whether you’re adventuring as a Hero or smiting as a Villain, you will earn Silver to spend in-game. Everything that makes your Heroes or your creatures more powerful can be bought with the silver that you earn. You’ll also be able to buy gold with real-world money, which can then be used to purchase many of the items that are also available for Silver. Hero Rotation We’ll be launching Fable Legends with a wide array of unique Heroes. At any time, there will be four of these Heroes available to play for free. We will rotate the four Heroes available on free rotation, so you’ll have a chance to play them all! Any progress you make with a Hero will be saved, and you’ll be able to pick up where you left off when they appear next on the free rotation. If you find a Hero you love, you can play them whenever you like by unlocking them with Silver or Gold. Once you’ve done that, they’re yours forever. Hero Customisation Albion is brimming with exciting treasure waiting to be claimed. The loot you find playing the game is yours to keep, and you'll also be able to get your hands on additional treasure with either silver or gold. Every Hero can also be customised, and we’ll have a host of interesting outfits, face variations and more available to unlock. Creatures As you progress therough the story you’ll come across all manner of mischievous creatures, and you’ll find that creatures are all native to specific areas of Albion. Using your silver or gold, you’ll be able to gain the allegiance of creatures and use them in any quest!

En Masse Entertainment wants you to take everything you think you know about class roles and shove it - well, you get the idea. En Masse's Scott James Magner waxes nostalgic on Dungeons and Dragons, EverQuest , and the establishment of the holy trinity. Scared of change? Don't worry too much. Magner says, "TERA isn't going to re-invent the wheel as far as class roles are concerned. Instead, we're redefining them as we move into the next generation of online games. TERA 's eight classes fall easily into four in-demand roles, but how they do it is another story entirely. " The Lancer and Warrior fill the tank role, but Magner is careful to point out that there is much more to to defending your allies than simply spamming your high-threat abilities; it's also highly dependent on blocking and dodging in a timely manner. Healers won't be playing whack-a-mole anymore, and Magner says that TERA's healers are " just as often in the thick of combat as the outskirts ." Lastly, Magner thinks that the trinity should further divide into a "'foundation' of four, " with DPS roles divided based on whether they are ranged or melee. The melee attackers deliver high damage with each strike, but the ranged attackers have an unbeatable attack speed. For the full details, head on over to TERA's site and check out the full article.

Saleron’s Sky Garden is TERA’s ninth instanced dungeon, aimed at level 55 characters but available to any level 53–58 character through Instance Matching. It’s a respectable size at five boss fights—and with three of the five fights spawning a random boss, it has a lot of replay value. With eleven possible bosses, every run will be different. Overview The god Saleron won’t give his powerful relic to any mortal who can’t protect it. Prepare to be tested. The Story so Far… You can enter the Sky Garden at level 53, but its story builds on the Danger in Kaiator plotline that starts at level 50. The goddess Kaia, realizing that Killian and the god Thulsa were baiting her, sent you to Sylvanoth to disrupt their plans. You recovered Isrenia, the intelligent and powerful staff of the goddess Isren, who revealed Thulsa’s plan: to transform the mighty, sleeping god Sikander into a horrible monster under Thulsa’s control. You battled past hordes of Thulsa’s and Killian’s minions, then through armies of Sikander’s loyal followers. Despite your heroic efforts, Thulsa awakened Sikander in a corrupt form: Kelsaik, harbinger of annihilation. However, you disrupted the ritual enough to put Kelsaik beyond Thulsa’s control. The goddess Kaia suggested that Saleron, an ancient god imprisoned in Val Elenium, might have a relic powerful enough to dispatch the rampaging Kelsaik—but you’ll have to find it before Thulsa and Killian do. How to Enter the Dungeon This section will get you past the quests and encounters leading up to Saleron’s Sky Garden and help you survive them. Players like you, drawing on extensive in-game experience, developed these tactics, but they don’t guarantee success. As with all things TERA, you’ll need skill and a healthy amount of common sense to win—but these tips will help. Quest Title Min Level Starting NPC The Imprisoned God 53 Tamur (must have finished Sikander’s Bane) 1. A New Hope Tamur, Kaiator’s new commander, sends you to Fraya in Allemantheia for help finding Saleron’s prison. Though Fraya has doubts about Saleron, she directs you to a Mysterium investigator in Elenea. Elvar explains Fraya’s doubts: Saleron is an old and powerful god who loathes other gods and mortals alike. Elvar guides you to a Mysterium camp inside the Doomcrypt, where Saleron is imprisoned. At the camp, Legia introduces you to Torsten, Saleron’s mortal prophet. Killian has already visited Saleron, Torsten explains. Rather than give the relic to Killian, Saleron broke it into pieces and magically scattered them. 2. Trial by Combat Torsten suggests killing some of Killian’s minions to earn Saleron’s favor. A few ravenous tyraks later, you’re ready to talk to Saleron. Note: Saleron is a hard god to talk to. If you have trouble highlighting him so you can speak to him, walk slowly along the Ebon Span about 20m below the Sky Garden teleportal and watch for the Press [F] prompt . Saleron wants revenge on Killian, but Saleron won’t give you the first relic piece unless he’s sure you can keep it from Killian. Survive Saleron’s Sky Garden, and the relic piece is yours. Garden In the Sky The garden is simple enough: a single path from terrace to terrace. Looks like a cakewalk until you realize at least three dragons fly around up there. What else might Saleron keep in his garden? 3. The Really Secret Garden Saleron has outfitted the garden’s four major terraces as the stages for your trials. Small terraces connect the larger ones and hold smaller challenges, often avoidable. After you clear the first big trial terrace, a second teleportal appears back at the instance’s spawn-in point. Use it to return to the furthest trial terrace you’ve cleared. If you take a break or your party wipes, you don’t have to hike the whole way back. 4. Crystal Energy Crystals power the garden. Knowing how to handle them will empower you, too. When you see a trio of werlyss, maelkul, and sdurgo crystals on a terrace, get ready for a big fight. 5. The Warm-Up The first seeker shard calls up a mandrake chanter and an entourage of minions. That includes a ring of talpids around the edge of the field that knocks you down, so stay toward the center. Focus your damage on the chanter, which appears by the exit to the next terrace. It spawns new minions until it dies, at which point all the minions and talpids vanish. 6. Ghosts of Instances Past—The First Trial Head to the next terrace and use the three crystals there to buff up. The big terrace just ahead is your first real test: Saleron is going to pick through your memories for a suitable foe to bring back to life. You face one of three bosses here: Karascha, Terkasia, or the duo of Duke Volperon and Duchess Tirania, selected randomly each time you run the instance. They’re not pushovers—Saleron has granted them new life and much more strength. Each boss spawns in a different part of the terrace’s far side. Gather your party by the entry gate—a decent position, whichever boss appears. Karascha Akasha’s guard dog, back for more. He spawns across from the entry gate on the left side. Watch out for his leap attacks and fireballs at range—they cause a bleeding debuff that slows you and drains your health. Once Karascha drops below 70 percent health, beware his Words of Unmaking. The first two words are just warnings, but once Karascha says the third word, you have just ten seconds to defeat him before your party dies. Terkasia You faced Terkasia in the Cultist’s Refuge. Here she spawns almost straight across from the entry gate. Terkasia is slow, but she has several 360-degree attacks. When her torso spins, watch out for an electrical attack that shocks you and leaves you zapping any party members who come near. Volperon and Tirania The Sinestral Manor’s vampir rulers are back. They spawn on the far side near the exit gate. Kill Volperon first—once he dies, everyone else despawns. Watch out for his spin-kick attack, which comes with a curse that takes your health down 90 percent. Tirania can poison you and can also summon minions—focus DPS on them. She’ll usually pause a while after summoning them, leaving Volperon open. 7. Prions and Priests Catch a speed boost from the zenobic crystal by the exit and head up. Your next engagement is optional—elite prion njalvars and helgevars patrol the platform, but their formation is loose. If you time your movement right, you can pass the prions without alerting them. The seeker stone on the next terrace triggers another warm-up test: a sikandari priest and his brood of minions.

Characteristics: Burst DPS, Melee, Mitigation Tank, Heavy Armor Brawlers are built to take the fight to the enemy. They can pin down one or more opponents with a variety of stuns and knockdowns, and can block most damage that’s aimed directly at them. A brawler’s skills are all about setting up combo attacks. Punches make Counter better, and every time she uses her skills, she builds up Rage...with which to unleash even greater attacks. Solo With solid burst damage, heavy armor, and skills that can keep foes on the ropes, solo play with a brawler satisfies your taste for violence. Skills: Counter and Haymaker Party The brawler can barrel through hordes of enemies and push them into a corner...or just away from the less-armored members of the party. Add that to her ability to draw foes in with a ground-shaking blow, or just a bone-chilling shout, and she’s got crowd control covered. Skills: Bull Rush and Ground Pounder Boss With a well-timed Counter, the brawler can shrug off a lot of any boss’s damage, and still be ready to dish out some serious damage of her own. Skills: Piledriver, Meat Grinder, and Divine Wrath Combos Punch -> Counter -> High Kick: The brawler can use multiple Punches to wear down a target, then use the “super knockout punch” effect of Counter to knock the target down, setting up a High Kick. Bull Rush -> Jackhammer: To remove targets from the fight and keep them pinned down, the brawler can Bull Rush through multiple targets, then deliver a Jackhammer to take them out of the fight entirely. If the brawler has enough Rage built up, she can also Rampage through the bunched-up enemies. Characteristics: Burst DPS, Ranged, Heavy Armor The gunner is a solidly-armored, ranged dps class. Effective from every part of the battlefield, the gunner uses a variety of potent attacks to pound foes, including some fueled completely by Willpower. Gunner skills focus on dealing damage, in differing amounts and differing areas, rather than creating effects—although plenty of the gunner’s attacks stagger or knock back enemies! Solo With high burst damage, heavy armor, summoned constructs, and skills that distance you from the foe, solo play as a gunner is a rewarding experience. Skills: Arcane Barrage and Mana Missiles Party When in a party, the gunner combines the roles of ranged dps (like the sorcerer) and crowd control (like the berserker). Skills: Burst Fire and Time Bomb Boss With her ability to both dish out and shrug off massive amounts of damage, a gunner is practically a boss’s natural enemy. Skills: Arc Bomb and Balder’s Vengeance Combos Scattershot -> Rolling Reload -> Scattershot: Use Scattershot to get your target’s attention, then follow up with Rolling Reload to dodge any counterattack—while at the same time eliminating the cooldown on Scattershot for a second volley to finish them off. Arcane Barrage -> HB: The HB construct does a lot of things, but one of the most spectacular happens when you use Arcane Barrage. Fire an energy pulse, then detonate it. Not only does it do a whole lot of damage, but your HB will launch a volley of bombs at the same spot. Characteristics: Mitigation Tank, Melee, Heavy Armor A lancer is a heavily armored fighter focused on anchoring a battle. Generates maximum threat with shouts and special attacks, sacrificing movement and attack power for the best durability in the game. Lancer skills are adaptable to any party size, including an army of one. Solo The lancer combines a large attack zone and high survivability to succeed in almost any situation. Skills: Debilitate and Shield Barrage Party A lancer keeps the most powerful enemies focused on the most heavily armored character. Protect your allies by being the greatest threat in the group. Skills: Challenging Shout and Leash Bosses Boss fights let the lancer take a position of prominence. However, your best defensive skills sacrifice damage in favor of protection so it's best to group up with other damage dealers. Skills: Stand Fast and Iron Will Combos Spring Attack: This leaping attack normally has a cast time, but will come up for an instant cast after Shield Bash, Shield Barrage, or a third consecutive hit from Combo Attack. These are three of your best skills, so you'll use Spring Attack in many situations. Shield Barrage: Not only does this skill set up a faster Spring Attack, but Shield Barrage combos with itself for a short stun effect! Tap or hold down the skill button to attack twice in a row. Characteristics: Healer, Support, Ranged, Robes Mystics are a strong healing class with skills to protect and support their party. They also summon powerful thralls to assist and heal them in battle. Mystics’ skills prepare them for any situation, with a good balance of offense, defense, and support options. Solo Summoned thralls and frontal AoE makes the mystic a solo powerhouse. Skills: Thrall of Protection and Metamorphic Blast Party With auras, crowd control, damage, heals, and debuffs, a mystic benefits any group. Skills: Sonorous Dreams and Arun's Cleansing Touch Boss Mystics provide a diverse mix of heals, buffs, and DoTs during boss encounters. Skills: Arun's Vitae and Volley of Curses Combos Corruption Ring -> Infusion Ring: A channeled PBAoE spell that hits all targets in a range with a better than average crit chance. Deals variable damage, but after use allows the mystic to cast Infusion Ring, restoring MP based on damage dealt. Very useful fighting Bosses and BAMs. Metamorphic Smite -> Metamorphic Blast: Extremely effective combo, since both spells cast quickly and deal superior damage to multiple targets. Better yet, it's available at level 6! Characteristics: Healer, Buffs, Ranged, Robes The priest is a robed magic user whose primary role is to restore health and vitality. However, a priest is not to be taken lightly—the same power that revives allies can also smite foes. Priest skills sustain a party through long and difficult encounters. Solo A priest's fast attacks and survivability allow them to counter almost any situation. Skills: Triple Nemesis and Shocking Implosion Party A priest's primary role in a group is to keep the party alive through healing and situational recovery skills. Skills: Healing Circle and Arise Boss A skilled priest can quickly turn a disaster into a manageable situation. Skills: Purifying Circle and Resurrection Combos Shocking Implosion or Triple Nemesis -> Final Reprisal: The use of Final Reprisal after these skills lowers its casting time. Shocking Implosion is for close fighting, Triple Nemesis for when you've got a little range. Resurrection -> Blessing of Shakan -> Blessing of Seren -> Blessing of Balder -> Blessing of Zenobia -> Restorative Burst: No matter how hard you try, sometimes the rest of the party just moves the wrong way, or not at all, and you've got to get one or more of them back on their feet. After a quick combat revival (or four), these rapid-fire blessings boost resistances, HP regen and movement, followed by a quick heal prepping them to run off and deal with all the aggro you just took for the team. Characteristics: Burst DPS, Melee, Light Armor A lightly armored, agile fighter with a devastating greatsword. High damage attacks combine with evasive maneuvers for a dynamic combat style. Slayer skills are quick, precise strikes that knock over and incapacitate even the largest and strongest of foes, leaving them vulnerable for additional attacks. Solo By focusing on knockdowns and stuns, a slayer can deal a lot of damage before an enemy knows they're even there. Skills: Knockdown Strike and Leaping Strike Party A slayer's role in a party is to deal huge damage while using evasive skills to avoid enemy attacks. Skills: Evasive Roll and Whirlwind Boss A slayer's role in a boss encounter is launching counterattacks to interrupt and knock down opponents.

As reported a few months ago, Hangame is looking to shut down all PC games, including TERA, to become a mobile-only publisher. While speculations have been rumbling where TERA is headed, developer Bluehole Studio today announced Nexon will be the new publisher. A teaser trailer was also released, with 26 Jan highlighted. There is also going to be a long downtime for data transfer. Nexon is also teasing a “new Elin”, which can be seen in the image below. From the silhouette, she looks just like Reaper Elin. What Jedi mind tricks are Nexon playing? Also, there is a gift to welcome all Korean users to the Nexon server in the form of Crazy Kart costumes and kart mounts. Crazy Kart is one of Nexon’s most popular casual games, but it is still a weird cross-promo if you ask me.
